The Multisport Fieldhouse Society needs you.

Do you have a background in communications, design, photography, public relations, marketing, project management, fund raising?

Or do you just have a little spare time and a willingness to help spread the word? CMFS has a number of active committees (see below) and any of them could use your help.

CMFS COMMITTEES

Advocacy and Marketing

Continued advocacy and networking to promote a groundswell of public support and political and corporate will to fund the Foothills Fieldhouse.

Help Needed With:

  • distributing Fieldhouse support postcards at events
  • mailing completed cards to local politicians
  • setting up banners at sports events
  • helping man (or woman) the CMFS Promo tent at events

Communications

Work with the Board of Directors to develop and execute a communications strategy to help the Society successfully advocate for a world-class multisport Fieldhouse for Calgary

Help Needed With:

  • creating communications pieces to inform the public about the Fieldhouse – Twitter feeds, Facebook postings, brochures, website posts, articles for the eNewsletter
  • using your connections to spread the word via your own Twitter and Facebook accounts

Disability Community

Engaging disability user groups for input on Fieldhouse funding, programs and specifications

Help Needed With:

  • contacting, by e-mail and phone, disability groups who have an interest in supporting and using the Fieldhouse
  • meeting with disability groups who have an interest in supporting and using the Fieldhouse
  • researching future possible disability events for when the Fieldhouse is operational
  • researching future possible conference/convention events for when the Fieldhouse is operational

Sports/Events

Work with the Calgary Sports and Tourism Authority (CSTA) and to investigate bids for major events that could be hosted in the Foothills Fieldhouse and attract funding. Engaging sports groups for input on Fieldhouse funding, programs and specifications.

Help Needed With:

  • contacting, by e-mail and phone, sports groups who have an interest in supporting and using the Fieldhouse
  • meeting with sports groups who have an interest in supporting and using the Fieldhouse
  • researching future possible sports events for when the Fieldhouse is operational
  • researching future possible conference/convention events for when the Fieldhouse is operational
  • liaising with Tourism Calgary/Calgary Sport Tourism Authority in bidding for future events

Funding

Focus on major fundraising initiatives; liaise with the City on major fundraising plans and provide assistance. Establish a Furnishings Fixtures and Equipment (FF & E) Fund with the Legacy Fund from the Calgary Track Council and promote further donations to the fund.

Help Needed With:

  • planning and initiating the Furnishings Fixtures and Equipment (FF & E) Fund
  • doing web research on possible sources of funding – Municipal – Provincial – Federal – Other (Corporate, sponsorship, partners, individuals, professional fundraisers, foundations, service organizations, etc)
  • preparing funding applications
  • liaising with the City on major fundraising plans and provide assistance

Membership

Recruit volunteers for CMFS committees. Create bite-size volunteer job descriptions based on Committee needs. Maintain an up-to-date and accurate database of members using Community Membership Manager (CMM) software

Help Needed With:

  • talking to and getting information – brochures, postcards, rack cards, etc. – to potential members
  • learning and being a back-up to the person entering volunteer information into the CMFS membership database
  • writing volunteer job descriptions
  • collecting mail from the CMFS mail box down town

Technical

Provide technical support to the City and architects by engaging sport and disability user groups for input on Fieldhouse specifications.

Help Needed With:

  • planning and initiating the Furnishings Fixtures and Equipment (FF & E) Fund
  • liaising with the City on conceptual architectural and land use plans and provide assistance
  • liaising with Sport Groups on their technical facility requirements
  • liaising with Disability Groups on their technical facility requirements
