It was a good day for the Calgary Multispsort Fieldhouse Society (CMFS).
On June 30, the City's Community and Protective Services Committee gave unanimous approval to conceptual plans for the upgrading of Foothills and Glenmore athletic parks. The long-wished for fieldhouse is a key component of the plan for Foothills park and approval of the conceptual plans marks an important step forward for the CMFS. The plans can now be presented to the full Council for approval, likely in July.
If they clear that hurdle, the next big challenge for the CMFS will be fundraising. Although alderman strongly favour the building of a fieldhouse, they warned that the city currently has no money available for the project.
The June 30 meeting also resulted in more media coverage for the fieldhouse project with Global News, CBC radio and the Calgary Sun running items. To read the complete Calgary Sun story, click here.
