A world-class facility for a world-class city...
The Calgary Multisport Fieldhouse Society (CMFS) has been working since 2008 to promote the building of a multisport fieldhouse in Calgary. The dream is:
It is something Calgary and Calgarians have long needed and which offers a wealth of benefits.
Calgary's population is growing rapidly and we are active people. During our interminable winters, we still want to run, keep fit, play volleyball, basketball, soccer and dozens of other sports.
Potential users for a fully accessible multisport facility include thousands of:
A multisport fieldhouse would benefit users involved in a multitude of sports — both competitive and recreational — and have a positive impact on the health of our citizens. It would also provide a needed boost to the city's economy.
For example, a venue capable of hosting provincial, national and international competitions in a wide variety of sports would bring in, by conservative estimate, an annual tourist income to the City of about $9 million.
Millions more could be realized by hosting trade shows and conventions in the facility.SO WHAT'S THE PLAN?
The first heat of the Fieldhouse Relays is filled and the second is well under way.
Committed teams to date include: Calgary 55 plus (CRCA), CE Franklin, CGG Veritas, Coca-Cola, Enbridge, Pattison Outdoor, Ricoh Canada, City of Calgary Recreation, Global TV, Main Dish, Laricina Energy and CBC. There are still openings left, but they won't be there for long. Get your team registered now!
