Calgary seniors are on their marks. The city’s recreation and culture organization for Calgarians aged 55 are at the starting line and are challenging corporate Calgary to join them.

Calgary 55 plus is the first team to officially register for the 2012 Fieldhouse Relays to be held June 29 at Foothills track. Representing active seniors in a wide (and wild) variety of activities from athletics to slo-pitch and cribbage to scrabble, the 55 plus-ers aim to show the youngsters how it’s done.

“We may not be fast,” says a spokesman, “but we’re on the right side of the grass.”
